Dorjan Marušič

Dorjan Marušič is a mathematician and a Specialist in Internal medicine. He served as Minister of Health Republic of Slovenia between 2010 and 2012. Between 2013 and 2016 he was a member of the Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health at the European Commission DG for Health and Consumers (DG Sanco). After graduating from Koper Gymnasium, he attended the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering graduating in mathematics. Afterwards, he attended the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, graduating in 1989. He specialized internal medicine and then worked at the Izola General Hospital, the University Clinic in Groningen and the Ljubljana University Medical Centre. In 2003, he enrolled in post-graduate studies in the management of non-profit organizations at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. In December 2000, he was appointed State Secretary at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia and re-appointed to the same position in 2004. He currently works as a practicing cardiologist and focuses on Health Technology Assesment in his research.
